About Laser Vision Correction

What is Laser Vision Correction?

The quality of your vision depends on the shape of your eye. If it is not perfect, images projected at the back of your eye will not be in focus and must be corrected with lenses. A laser beam can be used to correct defects in the shape of your eye by reshaping the cornea, with about one micrometer of accuracy.

Choosing your procedure

LASIK surgery is the most common laser treatment, and the recovery period is the shortest. A flap is lifted up on the surface of the eye and the laser reshapes the underlying layer of the cornea.

PRK surgery is a laser treatment on the corneal surface, and it can be an alternative if LASIK surgery is contraindicated.

Both procedures are available at the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic. Your ophthalmologist and optometrist will inform you about the different options. The surgeon will guide you toward the most suitable procedure for your needs
