The IRIS Experience

Why IRIS?

1.

Because you are dealing with a team of highly skilled and caring professionals!

The ophthalmologist meets each patient before the surgery to ensure that they comply with all safety criteria.

The qualified team of optometrists works in close collaboration with the ophthalmologist in order to guide and support you during the entire assessment procedure, as well as during the post-operative follow-up visits.

The ophthalmologist ensures your healing process progresses normally within the first 24 hours of surgery. In addition, the ophthalmologist oversees all post-operative follow-ups, in comanagement with your local optometrist.

2.

Because the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic is evolving as fast as the technology!

Each year, our ophthalmologists participate in international conferences on research and development in refractive surgery. They are passionate about integrating into their practice state-of-the-art techniques and equipment in order to provide high quality health care, in compliance with high standards of patient comfort and safety.

The IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic boasts equipment, such as Carl Zeiss Meditec Laser MEL-80™ , WASCA Aberrometer, ATLAS Topographer, Iris Recognition system, Amadeus II™ Microkeratome, Pentacam eye scanner and IOL Master® Optic Biometer.

3.

Because your safety is our number one priority!

At the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic, we are committed to comply with high safety standards in surgery. We provide you with the following:

  • Two operating rooms equipped with a laminar-flow air-filtration system, providing a perfectly sterile environment for surgery. Humidity and temperature control provide complete environment stability and ensure the effectiveness of the laser beam.
  • The stability of our surgical instruments, supported by an emergency UPS power backup system, allows for uninterrupted treatment in case of a power failure.
4.

Because IRIS gets involved in research and training!

At the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic, we have a team that is dedicated to the scientific analysis of surgical outcomes. This team is headed by Dr. Gaston Bérubé, O. D., Vice-President, Research and Development, and by Dr. Nadia Marie Quesnel, O.D., M.Sc., Professor at the School of Optometry of the Université de Montréal.

The IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic has been appointed by the School of Optometry of the Université de Montréal as a Refractive Surgery Practical Training Center. This recognition is due to the participation of several of our professionals in different continuing professional education events provided by the CPRO (Center for In-Service Education and Referrals in Optometry) and certified by the Ordre des Optométristes du Québec.
