DUTIES |
• Performs general and specific eye examinations on clients; • Complete patient files and optical prescriptions following oculo-visualexaminations; • Proceed with the billing for covered patients under the provincial healthsystem; • Advise staff of private fees to be billed to patients; • Participate in daily preparation meetings with other team members; • Follow-up (communications, reports, referrals) with other professionals or patients as needed; and • Completes and/or validates the selection of vision correction options made by other team members (prescribing opticians and/or optometric assistants) as needed. |
CONDITIONS OF THEEMPLOYMENT |
Receive patients at the clinics for an average of 40 hours per week, 48 weeks peryear.
All equipment required for the practice of the profession is provided as well as the appropriate support staff |

ANNUAL REMUNERATION |
Depending on the number of patients seen and the duration of each examination, between $150,000 and $250,000.
The remuneration is in accordance with the usual standard practices for the profession of Optometrist (i.e., fee for service schedules). |

QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED |
Three years of university undergraduate studies and a four- to five-year university program in optometry are required.
Licensing by the provincial regulatory governing body is ultimately required. Accepting candidates who not yet completed the process with the provincial regulatory governing body and are able to complete the equivalency process.
A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience as an Optometrist are required to hold the position proposed. |
