In Québec, RAMQ covers eye exams for individuals under 18 and those aged 65 and over. RAMQ also covers people enrolled in a recognized rehabilitation center due to visual impairment.
Eye exams are recommended once a year for children and adults aged 65 and over, and every one to two years for adults aged 18 to 64. Your optometrist can advise on the ideal frequency based on your specific needs.
Children can have their first eye exam as early as six months old. Early vision development is crucial, so it’s recommended to have a first exam at 6 months, a second around age 3, and annual check-ups starting at age 5.
