1-Day or Monthly Contact Lenses?

Are you nearsighted, astigmatic, farsighted and/or presbyopic? Would you like to take a break from wearing your glasses for an evening, a day at the beach or a tennis match? There are many types of contact lenses. Between daily and monthly wear contact lenses, it can be challenging to decide which is best for you.

If you're unsure whether you need daily or monthly lenses, here's some information and the differences between the two. With these explanations, you'll be able to see more clearly.

1-day contact lenses

One-day contact lenses are sold in packs of 30, so you'll usually need two boxes of 30 if you need corrective lenses for both eyes. They are a little more expensive because you must change them every day.

On the other hand, in terms of practicality, the 1-day format is still easier to use. You put them on during the day and throw them away at night. No cleaning, disinfectant, special precautions, or adjustment to your routine as with monthly lenses. Each day has new lenses!

One-day contact lenses are also considered ideal if you play sports or other activities where you risk losing them. For example, athletes such as soccer or tennis players prefer one-day lenses because they are likely to lose them while playing. Also, compared to glasses, they give you the advantage of having a panoramic view. Also, these lenses are often preferred when you go on vacation. Whether going to the beach or skiing, their practicality will help you.

You should know that 1-day contact lenses are a little more flexible and fragile than monthly lenses. Made of soft materials, 1-day lenses promote oxygenation of the eye. Indeed, they allow air to circulate easily between the lens and the eye. In addition, they offer immediate wearing comfort.

Monthly contact lenses

As the name suggests, monthly contact lenses are sold in pairs and worn for one month. After that, they must be replaced.

Regarding the material, you will feel a slight difference only if you're used to 1-day contact lenses. The monthly contact lenses are a little more rigid. Be careful. Monthly contact lenses do not necessarily mean monthly wear. You will have to remove your contact lenses every night before going to bed and keep them stored safely in their container before putting them back on the next day. All of this is done with proper hygiene in mind.

Monthly disposable contact lenses are best suited for neat and organized people, as they need to be cleaned and put away every day.

To suit everyone's needs, monthly contact lenses come in various materials. You can find toric lenses, progressive lenses, hydrogel lenses and silicone hydrogel lenses. In addition, they can correct all visual conditions.
