They feature 30+ designers the likes of Oliver Peoples, Tom Ford and Prada, as well as New York luxury brand Robert Marc, but the heart of this business is improving the vision of every patient.
Dr. Daryan Angle, who grew up in Edmonton, graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2001. It was during school that he met his wife Jill, who grew up in Heidelberg and attended Wilfrid Laurier University. After 6 years living in Vancouver, they returned to Waterloo with big aspirations, and in 2007 Dr. Angle set up both his Optometry practice and the Ontario regional office for IRIS.
“Improving the way eyecare professionals could deliver vision care in Ontario, giving back to the School of Optometry and owning a heritage home within walking distance of work were important career dreams for me”
Dr. Angle introduced the concept of open collaborative eye care to Ontario and passionately provoked the changes to legislation needed to allow all Optometrists, Opticians and Ophthalmologists the choice to work together under one roof.
“Our location was the first optical practice in Ontario where Opticians and Optometrists worked as a cohesive integrated team for better patient care, we’re really proud of that”
Patients benefit from the collaborative care of Dr. Daryan Angle, Dr. Daniela Bugescu, a long-time KW community member, who has been practicing at the location since it opened and Optician Richard Casselli, who joined the team in 2017. Richard brought 40 + years of loyal customers, and his Orthokeratology practice, with over 20 years of success correcting nearsighted patients’ vision, without surgery or eyeglasses.
IRIS Uptown Waterloo has grown with the community. Manager Darren Wilson explains, “We are tapped into the local culture, aligned with the values and initiatives of the Uptown Waterloo BIA and committed to being part of this evolving, vibrant, people-oriented city core. We welcome you and the opportunity to provide you with better vision and exceptional personalized care.”
