Tofino, in Western Canada

A small harbour town, Charlottetown is the perfect base camp for landing on Prince Edward Island. The capital city's island atmosphere, laid-back residents and colourful cottages have everything to charm you. Known for its abundant land, the island has many restaurants where you can enjoy mussels, clams, oysters, lobsters and potatoes. While the north has fine sandy beaches (including the beautiful Bassin Head Beach), the south has red sandy beaches adorned by sandstone cliffs. In the center, the green hills are worthy of a fairy tale. A visit to the Anne of Green Gables Heritage site is a must. There are also 27 protected parks, 30 lighthouses, 434 km of hiking and biking trails and 1100 km of shoreline to paddle.
Sandbanks, Ontario
Sandbanks Provincial Park is that seaside destination... without the sea. Located on the shores of huge Lake Ontario, the park offers miles of white sand beach and dunes. Families will especially appreciate Outlet Beach with its shallow waters. Equipped with your umbrella, cooler, shovels and buckets, you can sit on the beach with a happy crowd and play Frisbee, make sandcastles or read a good novel.
Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia
Passing largely through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the Cabot Trail is a 300 km scenic route through majestic mountains cut by deep river valleys, sometimes skirting the coastline with its sheer cliffs falling into the ocean. There are 26 spectacular hiking trails for young and old, ranging in length from 500 m to 15 km. As you pass by, you may be lucky enough to spot an eagle, a seal, a whale or a moose in the taiga.
Tadoussac, Quebec
Not only is Tadoussac one of the oldest villages in Canada, but it is also one of the 50 most beautiful bays in the world. Located in the Saguenay Fjord, this small village is one of the most recognized sites for whale watching. From mid-May to mid-October, whale watching cruises are very popular here. Whether by zodiac or by boat, everyone hopes to have the chance to see them. The more adventurous will opt for a kayak trip.
