We are pleased to welcome Vanessa Sicotte to our beautiful team of Ambassadors. Vanessa is an entrepreneur, blogger and mother of 3 children. We asked her a few questions in order to get to know her better.
1. When did you start wearing glasses?
I got my first pair back when I was a in university, I always had to sit in the front because I had a hard time seeing what was written on the board (That’s right! back in ''my days'', we were still using black boards!).
2. What is your go-to style when it comes to eyewear?
I absolutely love bold frames. I usually pick dark rectangle frames. Over the years, glasses have become an important part of my style and of who I am in general.
3. What are your hobbies?
I, unfortunately, do not have as much time as I would like to practice my hobbies… Let’s just say our 3 kids keep us real busy! However, once in a while, I like to take a little break to take a yoga class or go jogging. Painting and drawing have also been a passion of mine for a long time, I definitely want to start painting and drawing again someday.
4. What’s your go-to health tip?
I strongly believe in the power of the Finnish sauna (dry and very hot!). It helps purify the body and mind by removing toxins and, it is also beneficial for strengthening the immune system. My second health tip is: a green juice a day keeps the doctor away, forever.
5. What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little, I imagined myself being the editor of a popular magazine. Which is perhaps not far from what I do today as the creator of my blog, Damask & Dentelle.

6. What is your favourite meal?
I like simple and comforting foods, like a good lasagna or a homemade meat pie during the holiday season.
7. Do you have a hidden talent?
I give healing kisses on my children’s little sores and pains. It's a mom-talent that I particularly like.
8. Where would be your dream destination?
I feel so lucky to say that I just visited my dream destination and I was not dissapointed! I had always wanted to see the wild and picturesque Scottish Highlands. What breathtaking beatiful landscapes. Now that this destination is checked off my list, I think that the next destination would be Denmark or Iceland. I am clearly not seeking sun and heat when it comes to travelling!
9. What is your favourite colour?
Navy blue, especially when paired with white stripes.
10. Why are you proud to be an IRIS Ambassador?
It is an honour for me to be able to work with such a Canadian pioneer of the optometry industry, and to be part of the IRIS family. Family means the world to me, so it is comforting to be able to work with a company that has similar values.
