Did You Know That Acuvue® Contact Lenses Have A UV Filter?

You protect your skin from UV rays, but did you know that your eyes need protection from the sun too? All ACUVUE® brand contact lenses have a UV filter to help protect the cornea and the inside of the eye from harmful UV rays.

Even quality sunglasses let some sunlight through at the edges. UV filtered contact lenses will give you additional protection from the sun's harmful rays when placed on the cornea—worn with sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat, your contact lenses complete your protection.

Be mindful of reverberation: The sun's rays reflect off sand, snow or water and intensify your exposure to the sun. Be particularly aware of this phenomenon when you are at the beach, skiing, near water or high altitudes.

Tips for protecting your eyes?

Even on cloudy days, protect your eyes. Many of us protect our eyes from the sun when it's sunny, but UV rays are harmful even when cloudy. So, it's essential to protect your eyes from UV rays in all weather conditions.

Different times of the day. The sun's rays are most intense between 10 am and 2 pm when the sun is at its zenith. However, your eyes will be more exposed to the sun's rays in the middle of the morning, and at the end of the afternoon, because the rays are then oblique, the sun is facing your eyes, and you are easily dazzled. Make sure you protect your eyes throughout the day.

Wear a hat. A wide-brimmed hat will give you maximum protection. It will also protect your face and shoulders, reducing the risk of sunburn.
