Discovering new collections, exploring trends and connecting with industry professionals: staying up to date helps shape the eyewear selection at IRIS.
With this in mind, Éric Botbol, Senior Director, Product, and Laura Giry-Doublet, Director of Merchandising at IRIS, attended SILMO Paris, a major international optical and eyewear event. There, they explored inspiring collections featuring soft colours, lightweight designs and vibrant hues.
Exploring New Collections, Looking Beyond Style
SILMO brings together brands, designers and manufacturers from around the world. It offers an opportunity to discover new frames, explore materials and speak with the professionals creating tomorrow’s eyewear.
While design catches the eye, other details matter just as much: comfort, craftsmanship, proportions and fit. For IRIS, each discovery prompts consideration of how a collection could meet customers’ preferences, visual needs and everyday routines.
Our team’s Favourite Finds
Soft Colours for Little Ones
The Tartine et Chocolat collection caught Laura’s attention with its gentle colours and frames designed for young children. Their bridges are shaped with little ones’ facial anatomy in mind—an important detail for a comfortable fit.
The collection is a reminder that children’s eyewear should balance comfort with the joy of wearing glasses.
Titanium: Lightweight, Durable and Timeless
Titanium frames stand out for their exceptional lightness, durability and fine lines. These timeless classics combine subtlety and character without feeling heavy on the face.
For Laura, they beautifully illustrate how style and function can come together.
Acetate Embraces Colour
Collections from WOOW, FACE A FACE and Morel also caught her eye. While colour has always had a place in eyewear, this edition of SILMO showcased a particularly exciting return to bright, vibrant shades.
These colourful acetate frames offer appealing options for anyone who wants their glasses to be an expressive accessory.
For 2027, Variety Sets the Tone
What struck Laura most this year was the mix of very different styles. Bold, thick acetate frames appeared alongside slim titanium designs, while vibrant colours and original shapes brought even more variety to the collections.
Rather than one dominant trend, 2027 is shaping up to celebrate diversity. That variety reflects our customers: some prefer understated elegance, others enjoy expressing their personality, and many like to switch glasses depending on their activities or mood.
Discoveries That Inspire the IRIS Selection
The connections and favourite finds from SILMO help inform product choices at IRIS. Each new option is then carefully considered with the same goal: offering a selection that brings together style, comfort and visual needs.
