Everything You Want to Know About Transitions Lenses

WHAT ARE TRANSITIONS® LIGHT-SMART LENSES?

Transitions® lenses contain millions of patented photochromic molecules that react to light and continuously adjust to changing light conditions. The more intense the UV rays, the darker the lenses become. When UV light is no longer present, such as indoors or at night, the lenses return to their original state.

SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE PHOTOCHROMIC TECHNOLOGY IN MY TRANSITIONS® LENSES SCRATCHING OR COMING OFF?

No, absolutely not. The technology used in our Transitions® lenses is an integral part of the lens and will not scratch or peel off. In addition, Transitions® lenses are designed to last as long as your prescription does. If you have a problem with your lenses, we suggest contacting your eye care professional.

WHAT AFFECTS THE PERFORMANCE OF TRANSITIONS® LENSES?

Transitions® lenses activate in response to UV light. The intensity of the UV light will determine the tint of your lenses. This allows them to let you see life with just the right amount of light. In extreme situations, your lenses may sometimes react slightly differently. For example, the temperature can have an effect on reaction time.

HOW DARK DO TRANSITIONS® LENSES GET?

Most wearers are happy with the amount of outward tinting in Transitions® lenses. But if you spend a lot of time outdoors or behind the wheel, or if you find your eyes are particularly sensitive to light, you may prefer Transitions® XTRActive lenses, our darkest everyday lenses.

HOW FAST DO TRANSITIONS® LENSES DARKEN OUTDOORS?

Transitions® lenses darken immediately upon exposure to UV light. The level of darkening will vary depending on the intensity of the UV light, the time of day, and the sun's direction.

HOW QUICKLY DO TRANSITIONS® LENSES BECOME CLEAR?

Transitions® lenses return to clear as soon as UV light is no longer present.

Contact your IRIS professional to find out more and choose the right Transitions® lenses for you.
