How to choose the ideal frame for your face shape

Choosing a new pair of glasses is always exciting... but sometimes a little confusing! With so many styles, colours, and materials to choose from, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. However, there is a simple rule to guide you: match the frame to your face shape.

1. Round face: A round face is characterized by soft curves, without pronounced angles.

Objective: to refine and lengthen the features.

Prefer: angular, rectangular, or square frames, which structure the face.

Avoid: round or overly small glasses, which accentuate the roundness.

2. Oval face: This is the most balanced and versatile shape.

Objective: emphasize natural harmony.

Recommended: almost any style! Wide, butterfly, round, rectangular frames... feel free to vary the styles.

Tip: just make sure the frame is in proportion to your face.

3. Square face: Defined features, wide jaw and forehead.

Objective: soften the angles.

Best choice: round or oval frames that create contrast.

Avoid: overly pronounced geometric shapes that accentuate the rigidity.

4. Rectangular (or elongated) face: A face that is longer than it is wide, with a pronounced forehead and jawline.

Goal: rebalance the length.

Recommended: wide, deep frames, or frames with decorative arms to widen the face.

Tip: aviator or butterfly-style glasses are perfect.

5. Heart-shaped face: Wide forehead, narrow chin.

Objective: soften the upper part of the face and balance it with the lower part.

Best choice: oval, thin, or half-rimless frames (without a bottom rim).

Tip: light or neutral colours help soften the look.

6. Diamond-shaped face: Pronounced cheekbones, narrower forehead and jawline.

Goal: soften and balance proportions.

Best choice: oval or cat-eye frames that draw attention to the eyes.

Tip: frames with details or decorations at the top add character.

The golden rule is to create contrast with the shape of your face: round off what is angular, structure what is soft, balance what is elongated. And above all... choose frames that suit you! Your glasses are a real style accessory, so have fun with shapes and colours.
