Spotlight on IRIS in Trois-Rivières

This year marks the tenth anniversary of our IRIS in Trois-Rivières store! To highlight these 10 years among the family, we asked Marie-Pier Martel, Optician-Manager, a few questions. Marie-Pier herself earned her stripes at the IRIS Victoriaville store before joining Trois-Rivières a little after its opening.

Located a few blocks from the St. Lawrence River, the store is made up of a special team in that some members work at two of our Shawinigan locations: Johanne Roy and Josée Cloutier from IRIS in Grand-Mère, as well as Cindy Lagacé and Lynda Bournival from IRIS in Shawinigan. As for Dr. Vicky Larochelle, Optometrist, she also works at the Victoriaville location.

Even though this system works well today, it caused a few challenges in the beginning: “We had to work hard to develop a loyal clientele. Because since the opening, we never had a full-time optometrist. Hiring Dr. Larochelle in 2013, 2 days a week, was really welcomed in this store. Her patients loved her from the first moment they met her. She’s an important pillar to our branch. Her compassion and expertise charmed our patients. Although our customers would appreciate if she was more available, our delightful optometrist has a commitment to the Victoriaville branch as well.”

We are charmed by this very versatile team, which is also versatile outside of work: “We are surrounded by talented women. For example, Dr. Larochelle is a writer and artist in her free time. Lynda and Marie-Pier paint on canvas as a hobby. Maybe there are more talents in our team that we still have to discover!” And that’s not all. Dr. Larochelle is very involved in her community she’s part of the Council of Administration of the Centre de Ressource Naissance (Birth Ressource Center) and of the Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi (Youth Employment Hub).

The patients of this store definitely perceive the great humour that reigns there: “We are regularly told that they love coming here because it’s welcoming, they feel at home and not like a number.” And that’s not surprising when reading the following words: “We love our job, we listen to our clients’ or future clients’ needs, we place great importance  to the service we provide, and I believe the client experience is a success.

We wish the IRIS in Trois-Rivières team a very happy tin anniversary and wish them many more decades of happiness!
