Never thought we would say this, but stealing your grandmother’s look is pretty trendy these days. Eyewear designers are bringing back the retro shapes like the clubmaster, the clear aviator, and the trendy John Lennon inspired round shape.
We can classify retro-vintage eyewear as conveying a 50’s, 60’s or 70’s look. The classic wayfarer and the ever so popular cat-eye are some of the most popular frame shapes associated with this style.
Vintage is also about colours and material. This year, you will find lots of transparent, clear, tortoise, champagne, and even sometimes gray acetate frames. As for materials, plastics and acetate have always and are still winning the popularity contest. However, metal is making a comeback and we have to say… we love it!
So if you’re going to steal your grandparents’ look, the key to styling retro glasses is to make sure your outfit stays current and modern with a flair of vintage. This way, you’ll still look like you belong to this era! ;)
