Our IRIS store in Parksville, B.C., is pleased to have two new partners: Tammy Baker, Optician and Manager, and Dr. Adam Reid, Optometrist. Both have developed a relationship based on trust and mutual respect during their years of practice at IRIS as employees.
Outside of optometry, Dr. Adam Reid is an avid Calgary Flames fan and plays in two field hockey leagues. The family lives on a small farm near Nanaimo. Two horses, ten chickens, a dog, and a cat live on the farm with them. Dr. Reid chose to establish his practice in the Parksville community because not only is it a great place to raise a family, but the Parksville community is one of young retirees grateful to have a young optometrist.
The balance of work and family motivated Dr. Reid to become an IRIS partner. Being a partner allows him to be fully involved with his patients and have a dedicated team for all management, administration, marketing and accounting tasks. The support he has received as a new optometrist at IRIS has solidified his commitment to the IRIS network.
Tammy Baker has been an optician and manager at the Parksville IRIS store since 2015. She has been a part of the great IRIS family for 29 years! Tammy is a mom of 5 children, three of whom are teenagers.
Tammy moved to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island when her children were small. She has always loved the small community atmosphere. In Parksville, she has built a trusting relationship with her patients, who return year after year. This enthusiastic young entrepreneur started at London Optical in Richmond, B.C., at 19. When Dr. Francis Jean acquired the business, she decided to train as a prescription optician. Upon graduation, she was promoted to manager of the Parksville store. Becoming a partner in the store where she has worked for almost three decades was a logical next step in her career path.
For relaxation, Tammy and her family have a passion for hiking. Most days, she and her husband take the dogs out to explore the many trails on Vancouver Island.
