Think you've tried everything to relieve your dry eye condition? But you still have discomfort, redness and a gritty feeling in your eye? Have you heard of I-Med's E>Eye technology?
Before we delve into that, what is dry eye?
Dry eye occurs when not enough tears are produced or evaporate too quickly. It can lead to uncomfortable symptoms that can have a significant impact on quality of life. It is estimated that more than one in three people is affected by dry eye after age 50.
I-Med's E Eye Technology: A Light-Powered Dry Eye Treatment
Meibomian gland dysfunction has been identified as one of the leading causes of dry eye. This condition causes the tear film to become unstable, resulting in insufficient production or excessive evaporation of tears. It is now recognized that most cases of evaporative dry eye are primarily caused by a deficiency in the outer lipid layer of the tear film caused by dysfunctional meibomian glands.
This treatment uses specially designed LED lights to gently warm the eyelids, allowing the meibomian glands to unclog and release the oils needed to keep the eyes healthy, hydrated and comfortable. Simply lie back and relax while the treatment unclogs your glands. Most patients see improvement after the first treatment, with a 90% satisfaction rate after the four sessions. It's fast and painless!
Did you know that?
Although Intense Pulsed Light technology is used to alleviate dry eye symptoms, it was not designed for this purpose. Using a light source, these devices were initially used in dermatology to treat various skin problems, such as rosacea, acne and skin lesions. They were first used for dry eyes in early 2002 when a rosacea patient also noted an improvement in his dry eye symptoms.
