February is IRIS Mundial Month!

Did you know that around the world, 1.1 billion people live with vision loss because they do not have access to essential eye care services and that 90% of vision loss is preventable or treatable[1]

For the 17th year in a row, IRIS stores across Canada proudly donate $10 per pair of glasses sold during February to IRIS Mundial. The funds raised will be used for the organization's activities, which since 2001 have changed the lives of more than 108,000 people who do not have access to eye care.

IRIS Mundial's mission is to provide quality preventive and curative optometric, optical and ophthalmological services to populations in developing countries and people in need in Canada.

IRIS Mundial supports its partners through its Programs for the Prevention and Fight against Blindness (PPFB) in Haiti and Senegal. These initiatives have enabled adults and children in the targeted areas to access a comprehensive quality eyecare system for several years. IRIS Mundial's support to its partners takes many forms, from the construction or rehabilitation of community eye clinics to financial and equipment support, as well as continuing education in the field of eye care.

In addition to these programs, IRIS Mundial carries out one-time projects worldwide to provide visual care in regions without services. On January 20, 2024, a team of 24 volunteers (optometrists, opticians, ophthalmologists and others) will set off to Gabon to provide eye care to around 2,000 people without access to eye care. We'll keep you posted on how the mission went once they return.

If you want to make a small gesture to help IRIS Mundial during February, visit an IRIS store near you to choose your new pair of glasses! Last year, IRIS donated $92,090 to IRIS Mundial.

We can't wait to announce the total amount they will receive this year!
