Fresh fruit makes for delicious, refreshing, alcohol-free cocktails. In the summer, on a patio during a well-deserved vacation, mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails) invite themselves to our tables for our greatest pleasure. Full of flavour, they announce the colour of the evening.
This magnificent mocktail is made with a touch of maple and local strawberries. The maple syrup stays at the bottom and forms a beautiful golden layer that makes you want to take a sip! Here's to you!
Ingredients
- 5 cups (1.25 L) fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) grated ginger
- Juice from 6 limes + a few wedges
- 4 cups (1 L) maple water
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) maple syrup
- Ice cubes
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) maple sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 mL) fleur de sel
- 6 sprigs fresh mint
Preparation
- Place strawberries, grated ginger, lime juice, and maple water in a blender. Blend until very smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a pitcher and add ice cubes.
- Rub the rims of the glasses with a lime wedge. Mix maple sugar with fleur de sel on a small plate. Roll rims of glasses in the mixture to coat.
- Pour 2 tbsp (30 mL) of maple syrup into the bottom of each glass. Carefully spoon the mocktail over a tablespoon to create a distinct separation between the maple syrup and juice. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
