In February, Camille Heafey-Guilbault blew out 10 candles on her professional birthday cake! We asked the assistant optometrist and manager of IRIS in Maniwaki a few questions to learn more about her and her passion for her chosen field.
What motivated you to choose this career path? What does your background look like?
"Basically, what motivated me to choose this field was my desire to learn more about something that I didn't know anything about. I was seeking new challenges and wanted to work with the public. That's how I started at IRIS in Maniwaki as a sales consultant. I then followed the training to become an optometric-assistant, and for the past 3 years, I have been the manager of the Maniwaki clinic.
Camille is well-known for her great sense of organization! "Everything has to be in its place," she explains. Her colleagues describe her as generous, hardworking and organized. In her spare time, she loves to be outdoors and enjoy nature. She enjoys many activities such as riding her quad bike, boating and even camping. She has also recently discovered a passion for training and fitness.
" What I love about my job is that every day is different. There are always new challenges to overcome every day. I consider my colleagues as friends. Every year we organize two team activities together, one in the summer and one during the winter! I love IRIS and its network of professionals for their passion and for everything they convey around them.
And, when asked what would be the best advice she could give to the patients of IRIS in Maniwaki, she replied:
"Vision is just as important for a child as it is for the elderly!"
We are fortunate to count on Camille to keep the IRIS in Maniwaki store running smoothly. From the whole IRIS family, congratulations on your 10 years and for sharing your passion for better vision with us!
