Are you Eligible to get Annual Eye Exams at no Fee?

Did you know that most provinces cover the cost of eye exams for seniors?

Here is a summary of the government’s health coverage for optometry services in each province where an IRIS store is located:

New Brunswick
At the moment, there is no coverage for seniors in this province when it comes to optometric services.

Quebec
Adults aged 65 plus can receive free optometry services covered by the RAMQ public plan. Yearly eye exams are covered under this plan.

Ontario
For seniors aged 65 +, the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), the province's health insurance plan, covers the cost of a full annual eye exam and any follow-up assessments that may be required.

Alberta
With the Alberta Health Care (AHC), adults aged 65 and over are eligible for one comprehensive eye exam, partial examination and diagnostic procedure per year, from July 1stto June 30th, with a valid health care card.

British Columbia
At the moment, the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) does not cover the annual eye exam fee for adults aged 65 and over.
