February is IRIS Mundial month. IRIS is proud to be the major partner of this international cooperation organization whose mission is to improve the visual health of vulnerable people in developing countries. The campaign will be held throughout the month of February in IRIS stores across Canada. As an actively involved partner, we will be donating $10 to the organization for each pair of glasses sold during the month. We also appeal to the public by giving them the chance to donate their used glasses, at one of our locations. The goal for 2018 is to reach $85,000.
Here are some interesting facts on visual health aroud the world and IRIS Mundial’s role.

Did you know that nearly 285 million people are visually impaired and of these, 39 million are blind ? Research shows that 80% of the cases might be preventable causes. Through their projects and programs, IRIS Mundial helps thousands of people to better see the world by making visual aids, eyeglasses and eye surgeries accessible to the people in developing countries.

Nearly 90% of people with visual impairments live in developing countries. It is in this context that IRIS Mundial works hard to offer preventive and curative ophthalmological services complementary to those already available in the host countries, to people who generally do not have access to them.
