An Eye Exam for Kids: Does your Health Care Cover It?

Has your child seen the optometrist this year? Given that 80% of school-aged children learn through their eyes, it is essential to make sure they see correctly.

Did you know that most provinces cover the cost of eye exams for children? As uncorrected vision can impact their life.

Here is a summary of the government's health coverage for optometry services in each province an IRIS store is located.

New Brunswick

Although there is no universal government coverage for eye exams in the Province of New Brunswick, there are special programs for underprivileged children under 18. Plus, all 4-year-old children in NB are entitled to one free eye examination. In both programs, should glasses be required, the province will provide them.
